So this 28-year-old guy, Yaw Asamoah, apparently went to see a sex worker, dropped 1K Ghana cedis, and after the business transaction, he felt he’d been scammed. Instead of just taking the L and moving on like a normal person with a playlist full of heartbreak songs, he decided to go full “Justice League” on her. Get the 411 in the Deep Dive section below
The founder of Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML), Evans Adusei, is basically telling the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP): “Respectfully, stop playing with my name.” His lawyer, Cephas Boyuo, says the OSP’s claims that Adusei is some political frontman for shady deals are pure fiction. According to him, the man’s been hustling since before some of us were born from importing second-hand clothes in the 80s to running one of Ghana’s biggest teak plantations. In other words, Adusei’s been in business since Nokia 3310 days and still hasn’t taken a break. Read more

Mfantsipim really looked at the NSMQ stage and said, “Deja vu, baby.” The boys defended their crown like their GPA depended on it, snatching the 2025 trophy right in front of rivals St. Augustine’s (Augusco) and Opoku Ware (OWASS). From start to finish, it was pure chaos, energy, and brain cells doing backflips. Augusco tried to sneak in with some speed-round sorcery, but Botwe said “not on my watch.” By the final bell, they had stretched their lead ending with 56 points and back-to-back bragging rights. Coach Otto Addo isn’t about to start experimenting. For Ghana’s upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, man’s keeping his core squad intact. Apparently, there’s “no time” for major squad shakeups which is fair, because these international windows be shorter than Ghanaian patience after a Black Stars loss. So yeah, if you were hoping to see some shiny new faces or your favourite dual national finally repping the flag, maybe relax small. Read more
FACT OF THE DAY

Most November babies might come from Valentine’s Day
The love holiday typically sees couples spending time together and, well, nine months later … that baby is born in November.

If you ever thought your family drama was messy, the Lumba household just raised the bar. They were in court arguing over who’s the real wife of the late Daddy Lumba, and before the judge could say “order,” his sister stood up and invoked Ntam Kɛseɛ, the Great Oath of the Asantehene. Now, according to Asante custom, once that Oath is dropped, the case instantly moves from the courtroom to Manhyia Palace, no appeal, no delay, no lawyer English. Because the family head, Kofi Owusu, didn’t counter the oath in time, Manhyia said, “Bring two sheep, let’s cleanse the air.” Long story short: one family feud, two innocent sheep. Read more
Chale, while the rest of the world is still arguing about who really invented jollof, Ghanaian scientist Dr. James Adu Ansere is busy cooking 6G that transmits meaning, not just megabytes. Forget your slow Wi-Fi that dies when it rains this man is mixing quantum computing with something called “semantic communication” to make networks that don’t just send info, they understand it. Imagine telling your car “pedestrian ahead” instead of streaming an entire CCTV video. Read more

You know that one friend who swears they’re “done with relationships,” then two months later they’re back texting their ex? Yeah, that’s SSNIT. After getting roasted last year for trying to sell stakes in some of their hotels, the Trust is back saying, “Okay, we’re not selling, but we are looking for investors.” Basically, same vibe, new PR spin. The struggling ones, La Palm Royal Beach, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busia Beach Resort are still crying for financial CPR. Meanwhile, Labadi Beach Hotel is chilling, popping profit champagne with over GH¢80 million in 2024. The Director-General said Labadi and its cousins (SSNIT Guesthouse and Ridge Royale) are doing just fine solo. So yeah, not all siblings are broke, some are just… economically independent. Read more
DEEP DIVE
Body Counts
You ever lose money and suddenly start calculating your life choices? Like when you buy waakye for ₵40 and the egg alone costs ₵10, but you’re too deep in the queue to back out? Well, imagine that feeling, but make it fatal. That’s pretty much what happened in Amansie West when Yaw Asamoah tried to reclaim ₵1,000 from a lady of the night.
Now, look, we’re not here to judge the man’s extracurricular activities. Everybody’s got their coping mechanisms, some hit the gym, others hit up their “special contact.” But chale, this one went south faster than internet bundles on TikTok. Things escalated, a fight allegedly broke out, and the next chapter was pure tragedy: Yaw was found dead in a mining pit.
Police are investigating, and the Assemblyman for the area said they’ve nabbed two suspects. The streets are whispering, theories are flying, and everyone’s just side-eyeing like, “Herh, over 1K?” Read more
