So, President Mahama basically told the Ministry of Information, "It’s not you, it’s me." Yup, the ministry didn’t make the cut in his new lineup of 23 ministries, and according to him, it’s all about keeping things simple and effective. Now before you yell, “But who’s gonna gist us about government things?” don’t worry—Mahama’s got a backup plan. He’s parked government communication directly under the presidency with a Minister of State running the show. Read more

You know that moment in The Lion King when Simba finally steps up? Yeah, that’s Felix Gyamfi right now. As of January 22, 2025, he’s the acting boss of the National Service Authority (NSA). President Mahama made it official with a signed letter, but there’s still some paperwork for the governing board to finalize.
Gyampo has 14 days to say, “Challenge accepted!” If all goes well, he’ll be the guy ensuring national service is more than just photocopying and fetching coffee. Read more

Remember that class group chat where people kept sneaking in randoms who had no business being there? That’s basically what the payroll was looking like—full of names that didn’t belong. But no more! Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called roll, and anyone not legit? OUT. In a letter dated January 15, the Chief of Staff told all government institutions to submit deets on every new hire added to payroll, with a deadline set for January 31. It's like a massive audit to ensure every cedi is accounted for, no freeloaders allowed. Read more
You know when someone plans to throw the ultimate birthday bash, but they forget to book a DJ, and the food is all vibes but no seasoning? That’s what Prof. Titus Beyuo is saying about Agenda 111. The ambitious plan to build 111 hospitals was big on dreams but tripped hard on execution. Prof. Beyuo called it a classic case of doing too much without a proper game plan. Read more

The Concerned NDC Disability Desk isn’t holding back—they’ve called out President Mahama for failing to fulfill his campaign promise of championing inclusivity, especially for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). In a fiery statement, the group pointed out that 42 out of 60 planned ministerial appointments have been made, and while women have representation, PWD representation is at 0.00%. Read more

Kofi Adams (who also reps Buem in Parliament), sports minister designate said it’s high time we stopped treating sports like a side chick. We need to give it the attention it deserves. The main issue? Money, of course! But he’s confident that if we can reignite the passion for sports, we’ll get people excited to throw some cash into the mix. Read more

DEEP DIVE
When will Krobo get water?
Can you imagine waking up every day for six months without running water—and all because road construction destroyed some pipes. That’s the reality for communities like Sawer, Atua, and Kodjonya in the Krobo area.
Fed up with the silence, youth groups Kloma Gbi and Kloma Hengme petitioned the PURC, and it’s finally paying off. On January 14, the PURC ordered Ghana Water Limited to provide a detailed plan with timelines for fixing this crisis.
The issue? Ongoing construction on the Somanya-Odumase-Kpong road wrecked underground pipes, and affected communities have been left dry ever since. Residents are also calling out GWL for and the contractor for their “I don’t care” life.
Director of Communications for Kloma Gbi, Henking A. Adjase-Kodjo, applauded the PURC for taking swift action, while Dr. Eric Tamatey Lawer of Kloma Hengme called for long-term solutions to the area's water distribution challenges.
The community meeting held on January 23 gathered stakeholders and affected residents to brainstorm solutions. Will GWL deliver this time? Krobo is watching. Read more
