And the award for doing the least goes to…
It’s the end of the school year, and the teacher calls you the “Most Disappointing Student.” Ouch, right? Well, Kofi Koranteng, an independent presidential candidate, just did that to Ghana’s 8th Parliament, saying they’ve been, quote, the “most useless” in the country's history. His reason? He claims they’ve basically ghosted on their responsibilities and aren’t bringing any real benefits to Ghanaians. Koranteng’s just not seeing the value.

Koranteng threw this shade during a talk on Joy News, where he dug into Parliament’s recent decisions, or lack thereof. He said these MPs should be serving the people, not just themselves, and bluntly asked, “How have Ghanaians benefitted from this Parliament?” With Koranteng running as an independent candidate, he’s definitely seizing his chance to call out what he sees as weak links in Ghana’s political machine.
Now, let’s talk drama. The whole convo came up after the Supreme Court struck down Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of vacant seats. Apparently, some MPs wanted to ditch their parties and run as independents, and the Speaker was ready to kick them out. But the Court hit pause, deciding 5-2 that the Speaker overstepped, giving these MPs the green light to keep their seats. So, it’s safe to say things are a little… tense.
And while this ruling set the stage, Koranteng’s not here to debate legal technicalities; he’s more concerned about the lack of real results. Read more
