This happened in Chorkor!
Look what the law dragged in.
So, what’s in the bag today?
Crime: This fisherman went looking for fish but ended up netting himself an eight-year prison sentence.
Politics: Mighty or not, you’re still in the Minority!" – Ahiafor reminds Afenyo-Markin who's boss!
National: Not every fight is worth fighting—sometimes, you just sip your sobolo and let the process work.
Sports: Supporting your team is fine, but if your football passion comes with a police escort, you’ve gone too far.
Regional: 14-year-old unalives himself.
Fact of the Day: The first hot air balloon passengers weren’t human.
Sports: When football fans need bodyguards more than strikers, maybe it’s time for government intervention.
Regional: How do we owe you light bills when we barely see light? Make it make sense, ECG.
QUICK BYTE
This fisherman wasn’t fishing for tilapia—he was fishing for a jail sentence. And oh boy, did he get one. Joseph Armah lured a four-year-old girl with a GH¢1 bribe, committed the unthinkable, and then fled like the coward he is. But Ghanaian mothers? They see everything. When his victim got home acting strange, her mum cracked the case in 0.5 seconds, and the police wrapped it up. Now, he’s spending eight years in prison, where he belongs. And trust me, that’s the least of his problems. Read more
It looks like Alexander Afenyo-Markin is still adjusting to his new reality as Minority Leader, and Bernard Ahiafor isn’t letting it slide! The Appointments Committee Chairman says he needs to adjust to life in the Minority and stop contradicting agreements. New role, same debates, lol. Read more
You know the vibes—Ghanaian parents will punish you one time and expect you to bounce back like nothing happened. But for 14-year-old John Yawson, things took a dark turn when his mother denied him food after an offense. The next day, he was found in his dad’s uncompleted building—gone too soon. If you ever needed proof that Dumsor has evolved into its final boss form, look no further than Adidome. The people there are fed up, and honestly, we get it. Imagine running a business in 2025 and still having to predict when the lights will go off like it’s an MTN zone bundle. The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been serving them power cuts with zero notice, and now they’ve given ECG a 14-day ultimatum. Basically, "Fix this mess or expect wahala." Get the 411 in the Deep Dive section below
As the Chairman of the Appointments Committee, he’s been catching strays left, right, and center for not being “combative enough” during the vetting of over 40 ministerial nominees. Some of his own Minority squad think he should be throwing punches, but Ahiafor is out here preaching wisdom over wahala. His logic? Fighting for fighting’s sake is like setting fire to your own farm just because your neighbor annoyed you. Make it make sense. He believes that his approach (staying cool, strategic, and not flexing unnecessarily) has kept the process moving without turning Parliament into a WWE ring. Read more
FACT OF THE DAY
The first hot air balloon passengers were a sheep, duck, and rooster.
A Kotoko-Nsoatreman game turned into Squid Game real quick, and now former Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah is sitting in police custody alongside two others. After Kotoko lost 1-0, tempers flared, fists flew, and tragically, one person lost their life. The police found a pistol and blood-stained clothes at a suspect’s house, meaning this was no ordinary football beef. The IGP says a full investigation is underway, but one thing is clear—some people take “die-hard fan” way too literally. Read more
Kofi Adams is basically saying Ghana football needs parental control because leaving it to the GFA alone has been giving “error 404: progress not found.” After the Kotoko-Nsoatreman game went from match day to crime scene investigation, he thinks it’s time for the government to stop being a distant father figure and actually step in. If not, we might soon be watching Baby Jet FC vs. Retired Black Stars instead of a proper league. Read more
DEEP DIVE
14-year-old unalives himself
You ever get that random childhood thought like, “If I disappear right now, will they even notice?” Maybe after getting scolded for spilling Milo or breaking your dad’s favorite glass? But no matter how hard things got, you knew running away wasn’t an option—because where are you going?
But for 14-year-old John Yawson from Shama, that dark thought wasn’t just a passing feeling. He was found in his dad’s uncompleted building, gone too soon. Reports say he had an argument with his mum the day before, and the next thing anyone knew, he was no more.
And that’s what stings. Because Ghanaian kids don’t just wake up and decide, “You know what? I’m out.” We grow up in homes where you could be fuming one minute and still be handed a mountain of rice with stew the next.
Now, the whole town is in shock, the police are investigating, and everyone’s asking, “Why?” Read more
Fix Our Light
And it’s not just the power cuts. Since the Akosombo Dam spillage in 2023, ECG has been charging residents estimated bills instead of actual usage. Think about it—you’re barely getting power, but somehow, your bill is looking like you’re running an underground Bitcoin mining operation. Add to that ECG staff who allegedly respond to complaints with the same energy as a JHS PE teacher on a Monday morning, and you can see why the people of Adidome are done playing nice.
Businesses are suffering, with nearly half of them shutting down daily due to power outages. Meanwhile, ECG is out here acting like a toxic ex—disappearing without notice and expecting you to just deal with it. The people aren’t even asking for much—just stable power, proper communication before blackouts, and maybe a crash course on how to navigate ECG’s app instead of getting bounced from one customer service rep to another like a bad mobile money reversal attempt.
So, ECG, the ball is in your court. The people of Adidome have given you 14 days to either fix up or prepare for a showdown. Read more
